Rwanda:Owing to Marburg;Ministry of Health bans hospital visits

The Ministry of Health has put out instructions related to the prevention of the ‘Marburg’ epidemic that has arrived in Rwanda, including the provision that the activities of visiting patients in different clinics have been stopped for a period of 14 days, in order to prevent this disease.

It is an order issued on the evening of this Sunday, September 29, 2024.

He also decrees that the person who died with this disease will not be buried, while his burial will be attended by no more than 50 people.

The person who died of this disease and there will be no farewell ceremony at the church or the mosque, but will be held in the hospital.

Even so, Rwandans are asked to continue their work as usual but take care of cleanliness and wash their hands with clean water and soap.

Other recommendations include avoiding close contact with anyone who has developed symptoms including high fever, severe headache, muscle aches, diarrhea and vomiting.

On September 27, 2024, the first patients appeared in Rwanda, and since then there are 20 infected people, and six people have died from this disease.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana told the media that this epidemic is not like Covid-19 so that people should be concerned about hygiene, and avoid touching and touching the skin of those who are suspected of this disease.

He said, “Life, work, people should continue as usual. “So far we have reached a good place in the first three days of searching for those who have met, we are not stopping people from living their lives.”

The ministry reveals that it has already identified about 300 people who have been infected, and all of them will be tested to see if they are infected or not.
