Education: After the Genocide against the Tutsi, the development of education progressed – Joseph Nsengimana Minister of Education
The Minister of Education in Rwanda, Joseph Nsengimana pointed out that among the major changes that have taken place in this sector in the past 30 years, is the building of infrastructure for children to learn and help them learn better, but all of this goes hand-in-hand with creating a system that makes all children love school.
He returned to it this Saturday, in the Talk “Dusangire Ijambo”, which was broadcast on Radio and Television Rwanda.
It is a discussion that is particularly relevant to the beginning of the 2024/25 school year and the new measures introduced to improve the quality of education.
The Minister of Education, Joseph Nsengimana, says that as far as education in Rwanda is concerned, there is no doubt that it has improved.
He said, “Before, children did not have schools to go to, that problem is over. Yes, you may not be where you want to be, but you have a destination.”
The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Education, Irere Claudette, says that since the school feeding program was launched, dropouts in primary schools have decreased.
He said, “In the last 4 years, we had about 10% of school drop outs, but now we see that this number is decreasing, reaching 6% and other areas.”
